After three consecutive terms in office, Washington State Governor Jay Inslee announced he will not run for re-election in 2024. This announcement has caused a campaign “musical chairs” of sorts, as other elected officials vye for the position, and still others seek to fill vacancies.

These announcements mean open seats for Attorney General, Commissioner of Public Lands, and the Senate seat in the 5th legislative district.

Currently serving in the House, Representative Bill Ramos (D) has announced his candidacy for the 5th legislative district Senate seat in 2024.

These announcements mean there will be an open seat in the 24th legislative district. It is likely that one of the two House members in the 24th will seek the Senate seat in 2024.
